Since after the winter months and we have some prisoners that get 3 square meals a day, a nice semi-comfortable bed, air conditiong and Dish, Direct or TWC to watch not to mention a beautiful out door area to play bnasketball and sit on picnic tables,(which some of parks don’t even have) why not put them to work.. The City of Ravenna needs there fire hyrants painted, trash picked up along the streets, elder people yards mowed. This should keep them busy for the whole summer. Our tax dollar in this county pays more to keep them in jailwhile doing nothing then I get paid a year and I work my butt off. Some of those items I can’t even afford. Is this wrong, they should be miserable in jail for the crimes they have done, not fat and happy.
I have to agree with you, Jan. I have heard of people committing crime just to get in there, because while they’re in there they can abandon their worries and life a care-free life.
I don’t like that!
They should be in there as a punishment not as a vacation. It should be ugly, uncomfortable, and a place that they should never want to return to.
I was wondering with the economic times if the city could adopt a program to wave late payment fees on city income taxes. We are filing late due to not being able to pay because my husband was out of work.
Help!
My wife and I have been in the same situation. The Ravenna Income Tax office (at least the person we have dealt with over the years) I feel is really too strict and hard-nosed for small, local government office.
Could we get the garbage picked up on West Lake Street(and everywhere in Ravenna)? There are piles of trash close to the tracks which is a big eye sore and it would be great to see our tax dollars at work and have it cleaned up!
Karen,
I am sending your question to the service director to see if we can get some of that cleaned up.
Thanks
Where did that trash come from? Is it left by folks picking up litter along side the road or does it look like someone dumped it there?
I’m frustrated with litter as well, we’re regularly cleaning out our hedge because people throw beer bottles, cigarette boxes and all sorts of garbage wrappers in it. This year there was an old tire thrown into my hedge as well.
Does Ravenna have a fine or do anything to discourage littering? I know that wouldn’t stop the problem but its a start.
Thank you so much, it looks awesome!
Can you please tell me if the City of Ravenna is joining other neighboring cities like Warren and Alliance in planning talks on the Ohio Hub Project, regarding restoring Ohio’s passenger service, railroads and railroad stations?
When other cities are having their stations rebuilt and using federal stimulus money to do so, (as part of the Ohio Hub Project), I would hate to see Ravenna miss out if we’re not taking part in those discussions.
Have you seen the planning inforation on the ohio railroad commission’s website? Ravenna will be at the crux of 2 major lines in the system, Norfolk Southern and CSX.
Please, I would be very disappointed if out town missed out on having its passenger railroad rebuilt because no one from our city gov’t is going to these meetings and speaking for us in the planning process. I would volunteer to do so but my health is not up to it at this time. Do we have representation in the matter?
Watchman,
The City of Ravenna has been in communication with the organization All Aboard Ohio about possible restoration of passenger service through Ravenna. All Aboard Ohio is advocating passenger rail service from Cleveland to Pittsburgh with one of the connection stations to be in Ravenna.
Thanks for asking
When is the city going to do something about all the train whistles and noise it is really over the top here. and the horns are getting louder other cities have whistle bans and speed reductions why not here it gets worse as time goes by
when is the city of ravenna going to do something about all the train noise ,they keep saying it costs to much to get quite zones set up. put it on the ballot let the people vote on it i would pay a extra 50-100 a year to have it quite how about the rest of you
Hello, there! Would you find out if there are going to be any fireworks displays over the Fourth of July weekend here in Ravenna? I have been unable to find out anything at all. I know that last year (2010) Sunbeau held them. Thank you so much!
